J.T. is our resident Youth Rockfit Instructor, a big kid himself he knows how to make exercise fun! Besides climbing, JT also practices and teaches Martial Arts and American Ninja Warrior training. JT has three kids of his own and a lovely wife who keeps all four of them in line some of the time. JT is a lot of fun and is amazing at keeping kids engaged and active. He also sets some of our bouldering routes and keeps it interesting!
Zane is the son of the owners and spent his youth tethered to trees while his parents climbed. He now enjoys spending as much time as he can at the family business. His interests include climbing, reading, and writing. Zane has worked with youth at Crux since 2018 and spends his spare time secretly plotting his coup to take over the gym, and then the world.
Mara learned to climb in Crux youth classes at age eight and continued in our youth classes and camps until she was old enough to teach them. Her other passions are hiking with her dog, Kenai, who was a Crux foster pup, and doing Ariel silks, traveling, and exploring.
Sydney is a U of O architecture student who appreciates historic buildings and the stories they tell. She loves the outdoors and has been climbing and backpacking all over the West Coast. Her favorite Oregon climbing destination is Smith Rock where she enjoys introducing friends to outdoor climbing. She maintains a large collection of terrestrial and aquatic plants and can talk your ear off about dwarf aquarium shrimp.
Marra has been an FPI Personal Trainer and Lifestyle Coach since 2003. She specializes in helping people rehab from old injuries by strengthening and instilling proper biomechanics for joint longevity. Marra teaches a holistic approach to health, emphasizing nutrition, and making a healthy lifestyle fun. Marra does less training these days and more gym management.
Morgan became a certified Personal Trainer and has been helping people get fit since 2003. He loves his job helping clients reach personal goals, and heal from old injuries. As a mountain and rock climber, Morgan has a well-rounded approach to exercise and conditioning focusing on functional fitness for strength, stability, balance, and stamina. He is certified through FPI and ACE. Morgan is also a certified Lifestyle Fitness Coach as well as a Sports Nutrition & Orthopedic Exercise Specialist through ACE.
